BIGkids: Brits and their silly crowns

Get silly with these songs
– Drum in My Chest
– Superhero
– Good for You
– Rather Go Blind (etta james cover)

“What do you want to be when you grow up?” That has to be the singularly dumbest question to ask a child. I’d wager most adults you ask that to, gainfully employed or otherwise, wouldn’t be able to give an answer with confidence.

Despite their ragamuffin appearance, Big Kids seem to have figured it out. What I love most about them though, is that they’re quite tongue-in-cheek about the whole thing. Listen to their track Superhero sans video, and you’d gather it’s a song about being a downtrodden youth who wants to be a big noise and look down on those who pushed them around. Now watch the video Superhero along with the song. First off, its freakin’ hilarious. A pair of kids doing what many young adults do when they come of age: drinking, smoking and making lots of bad decisions. I can’t help but think that this might be a depiction of what kids would dream about if they dreamt about what they would actually be when they gre up (rather than what they’d ideally like to be).

If you like people who don’t take themselves seriously and like to make trouble, I’d give them a try. It’s also good move your body music.
